SIGNa Chemistry has developed an array of free flowing powders which perform tasks you might find hard to believe. A particular class of these fine particles produce hydrogen from water directly into a fuel cartridge, think battery, oriented for any ensuing compatible device, e.g., fuel cell driven automotive vehicles.

As hydrogen is being used more and more as an alternative fuel source, many companies are trying to solve the puzzle of how it can be made and used safely on vehicles. With the use of these powders, the solution may be solved. This is because according to SIGNa chemistry, these powders form hydrogen at room temperature and pressure unlike the traditional way in which high pressure and/or temperature is required. Therefore, this technology could ultimately eliminate the need for expensive hydrogen filling stations, as you could simply pour some water into your tank. Just think, you would never have to worry about running out of gas again. When new innovations like these are discovered, it opens a great new window for inventors to begin creating uses for them. Although the powder does not produce enough hydrogen to power a car, at least not yet, many smaller devices could still be powered, such as bicycles or perhaps generators found commonly in smaller family homes (1400-1800sq.). Either way, the options are endless, but the result is still an amazingly clean way to produce power. Overall, It is truly a great thing to see new inventions such as these, which aim to make the world a cleaner place.
Everyone understands how inconvenient it is when your cell phone battery dies mid-day. To avoid this, several companies have come up with innovative products such as solar chargers, which charges your phone or any other small electronic by connecting to the device and then leaving it out in direct sun light. Translating the solar rays hitting the silicon layer of the panel into consumable energy. Now though, an even better idea has emerged. A designer by the name of Patrick Hyland, has created a concept cell phone which charges itself through heat. Simply having the phone in your pocket—the warmth from your body is converted to electric energy by a thermo-generator next to the specially made battery in the device.

Hyland’s phone is dubbed the Nokia E-Cu (E= environment, Cu= copper), and the concept is that it charges every time it is by a heat source. Depending on how much heat is put on it, the faster it charges, therefore placing it on a heater will charge it very quickly.

If you have heard anything new in the realm of alternative energy sources for consumer electronics, we would love to hear it. Feel free to comment below.
